Our Providers

     I am Dr. Smallwood, a board-certified psychiatric specialist, researcher, author, educator, and student with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I have extensive experience working with all age groups in various psychiatric settings. My clinical areas of interest include post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.

    My current research interests include improving the reliability of using the Delphi Technique with larger third-round sample sizes, reducing the perception of distance in telemedicine, addressing sexual minority health disparities, and exploring youth suicidality and depression.

    Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, movies, live theater, reading, writing, and pursuing education. I value freedom above all and strive to gain as much life experience and knowledge as possible. I will soon be starting school again to work toward a second PhD.
